OTP in the Community
On-Time Payroll has begun a new corporate responsibility effort, "OTP in the Community", that includes periodic volunteering efforts with different non-profits throughout the Waltham and Boston area. Last Saturday the OTP team spent the morning volunteering at Waltham Fields Community Farm. The farm promotes food access and local agriculture through their operations and educational programs, using practices that are socially, ecologically, and economically sustainable.
We participated in the farm's "Crop Mob" volunteering group, spending time weeding multiple long rows of lettuce and beets. The weeds in these rows had gotten so tall that the vegetables could not even be seen, and the lettuce and beets likely benefited greatly from the weeding efforts. While it was hard work, we had a great time lending a hand and learning more about sustainable local agriculture in our community.
